With Opentext Information Archive (formerly Infoarchive) our users were able to decommission enterprise applications, extract data, manage archive access, and apply retention policies to comply with regulations.  In our design, we focused on simplifying access to each segment of the experience, while progressively disclosing the complexity of the retention and archiving processes.
Our user research surfaced a range of users personas who served as the focus as we designed and tested our features.  This was one of those rare cases where our entire cross-functional team referred to features as being for a specific persona (e.g., "Retention Manager Rita will need this...").
We were successful in delivering an effective, satisfying experience.  After the UX redesign, revenue for this product doubled from $3M to $6M within a single year.
